When looking into the design trends you will often see a pattern, businesses want to create a home away from home. Below are 3 key design trends happening right now and will certainly follow into the year 2020.

1. Generation Z

Generation Z are people born between the mid 1990's to early 2000's. This generation has grown up in an internet heavy society where everything is expected to be online i.e. solutions and training.

By 2020, almost 36 percent of workplace employers will be from Generation Z, and this will only continue to rise. This group have played a large role in the workplace in bringing in smart technology to help businesses develop into the future. Many are now choosing to use a laptop and move away from the desk tops as they have more flexibility to work anywhere, not just in the office or at their desks.

2. Flexible working spaces

Flexible working spaces are becoming more and more popular in workplace design. This is because companies want to have an office space that suits everyone and their needs. Spaces are to be non-restrictive, multi functional. Allowing the employer to work in different areas of the office without being stuck at their desks all day long.

Another key aspect of a flexible space is using collaborative furniture i.e. free standing media units and acoustic pods. This allows quick meetings to happen and people are not restricted to using one particular room for any sort of meeting.

3. Biophilic Design

In my opinion, biophillia is the most important design trend of any type of space, whether it be commercial or residential. Creating a calm and stress free environment is important to everyone's health and well being.

Biophillia can be cooperated in many different ways i.e. plants and natural materials. Vertical gardens are a great way to add plants but also create partitions between the different areas of the office. Making the most of natural light is also important as it is helping to bring the outdoors in. Natural materials include; Bamboo and Cork.
